Gotu Kola

Gotu Kola is often called the “herb of longevity” because of its ability to support brain health. It improves blood flow to the brain, which enhances oxygen and nutrient delivery. This can lead to better memory, focus, and mental clarity. Some studies suggest it may even help reduce cognitive decline associated with aging or conditions like Alzheimer’s disease.
A study done by Wattanartorn in 2008, in Thailand using Gotu Kola with 28 healthy, elderly subjects with a mean age of 65.05 years. They found an increase in working memory, an increase in alertness and calmness.
An study done using Gotu Kola in India, by Tiwari in 2008, using 60 elderly subjects with 'mild cognitive impairment'. All subjects showed an increase in MMSE Score, Decrease in diastolic BP, increase in sense of well-being, increase in sleep and a decrease in anxiety levels.
Another study with Gotu Kola from 2011, using 80 healthy elderly subjects, showed and increase in lower extremity strength and they self-reported an increase in life satisfaction.
